Lizard Island and Ribbons Expeditions

Lizard Island and the Ribbons are some of the most diverse fishing regions in Australia. Opportunities are simply endless with islands, reef and shelf options all boasting a plethora of iconic Australian sportsfish – those “bucket-list” fish we have all dreamt about. Enjoy 7 days of fishing as we fish the iconic ribbons and have some beautiful island stopovers such as Lizard Island, East Hope Island & Low wooded Islands. Located 70 nautical miles from Port Douglas.

Trip Dates

Our adventures to only operate from October to November 2021 with reef and shelf fishing available through these months (subject to weather).

Departures

The picturesque and nostalgic Port Douglas is the location where all our trips depart. The vessels leave port 4am in the early morning, we start fishing at around 40 Nm and work our way out wider and back. This keeps the travel time down to about 3 ½ hours each way. Fishing is undertaken over all trip days and sometimes can include a small amount of travel while trolling.

Reef Boats

San Miguel is a 65' Purchased in 2014 to provide a platform for our extended trips. It has a length of 18.2 metres and a beam of 5.0metres

Room for up to 10 guests (All linen supplied)
2 showers and 2 Toilets (Helps with that line up in the mornings)
Great top deck area for relaxing or even as a casting platform (Catch the breeze on the top deck)
2.5m3 of Freezer space + Snap (Treatment of your catch is very important to us and goes through the following steps. After being caught the fish are bled in a saltwater tub. From there they are chilled in a saltwater brine until set. Next filleted and the snap frozen ensuring the highest quality. We also supply Styrofoam airline approved boxes to take your catch home. Alternatively road transport can be arranged.)
Fully Air-conditioned in Cabins and Bridge (Great comfort)
Power outlets in Cabins for CPAP machines ( Keep the snoring down)
Great Galley area with Large BBQ (taste the marvels that chef Roly creates)
Large water storage and desalinator (Plenty of hot water for showers)

Inclusions

Air port Pick up
Breakfast- Bacon, Sausages, Omelettes, cereal, fruit and yoghurt.
Morning Tea- Cakes, biscuits and fruit
Lunch- BBQ, cold meat, Caesar salad, green salads. Sometimes the cook will do dishes like spaghetti bolognaise and other hot dishes for lunch as well.
Afternoon Savouries-Savour platter’s, chips and dips.
Dinner- Roasts, BBQ’s and speciality dishes. Also vegetable and salads. Also fish will be cooked if our clients prefer.
Dessert- Apple Pie, Sticky date and ice cream
Tackle- All terminal tackle supplied for bottom fishing. This includes sinkers, hooks, line, leader and trolling lures.
Bait- Quality squid and pilchards along with fresh cut baits at sea.

Not Included

Alcohol-Not supplied but you are welcome to BYO. Please bring cans if possible.
We can also have alcohol delivered for the bigger groups.
Rods and reels- We do not supply free of charge. We do however have a hire service and these are at $20.00 per day.
Speciality Lures- We do not supply jigs, soft plastics, poppers etc. If you would like advice on these lures please don’t hesitate to contact us and we can recommend types.
